Guruji speaks about the similarities between Stoicism, yoga and Kashmir Shaivism. We hear thoughts on finding inner happiness and freedom regardless of external situations, learning to accept and let go of things that are not within our control, and how we do have power over own own thoughts and reactions.

Guruji speaks about many enlightening topics for the spiritual seeker and meditator, including how to deal with other people's anger, dealing with the desire for material things, how to hold the space of the inner self, and finding your Guru.

This week at Satsang Guruji spoke about the Greek-Armenian mystic George Ivanovich Gurdjieff, a spiritual teacher who lived from 1877-1949. Guruji speaks about Gurdjieff's ideas on spirituality and attaining higher states of consciousness, including 'the work' or spiritual practice (sadhana), self obsvervation and self remembering. We also hear a story with a teaching from Gurdjieff, written by Fritz Peters in his book 'Boyhood with Gurdjieff'.

In this weeks Satsang with Swamiji, we celebrated the annual festival in honour of the Guru, or spiritual teacher. Guruji read from question and answers recorded with his own Guru, Baba Muktananda, from one of his world tours. He spoke about the relationship between the inner and outer Guru and about discipleship. Guruji also spoke about his time in the 70s in India and shared stories from his time with Krishna Das, the well-known kirtan artist, and his Guru Neem Karoli Baba.
You are welcome to join us every Saturday night at the Mount Eliza Ashram for our weekly Satsang program with Guruji. At 6pm there is a Vegetarian Indian meal for $10, 7pm begins mens chanting, and Arati and Satsang begin at 7:30pm for $10. In this talk from Satsang with Swami Shankarananda, on Saturday July 14 2018, Guruji speaks about his teacher Baba Muktananda, whom he studied with in Ganeshpuri, India for three years in the 70s. Guruji was one of Baba Muktananda's prominent Western disciples, and Baba instructed him to hold Shaktipat Intensives and retreats, beginning in the United States in the 70s running the Ann Arbour Ashram. Since then, Guruji has been running retreats and Intensives and teaching meditation for over almost fifty years, and is now based in Mount Eliza, Melbourne, Australia.
In this talk, Guruji draws on his many years of experience and wisdom, and speaks on topics including consciousness and the philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism, meditation and spirituality, and reads from Question and Answers with Baba Muktananda. In this Satsang talk Swami Shankarananda speaks about the great Indian sage and yogi, Bhagavan Nityananda. Guruji discusses some of Bhagavan's aphorisms or sayings that were recorded by his devotees when he was alive between 1885-1961. In Bhagavan's usual style we are forced to use a different part of our brain and listening to feel the esesence of his teachings and the great Shakti, or spiritual energy behind them.
